Weaver Leather Livestock is proud to announce cattle expert Bob May as their newest industry partner. The addition of Bob May, alongside Kirk Stierwalt, brings two of the most dynamic and professional cattle experts in the industry together on the Weaver Leather Livestock team. Both have high standards for introducing top quality products to market and are passionate about educating the industry leaders of tomorrow.

"We are excited to continue moving forward and combine our manufacturing expertise with Bob and Kirk’s vast knowledge of the cattle industry to consistently set the bar higher," commented Lisa Shearer, Weaver Leather Livestock Division Manager.

Bob May is known throughout the beef cattle industry for his and his family’s success in the show ring as well as his knowledge and expertise breeding quality animals. He has also gained a great reputation for his ability to find the right fit for buyers’ needs and to educate youth and parents throughout their projects. He is invested in their success, keeping track of and checking in on their progress periodically during the show season.

Bob owns and runs May Cattle Co., a 100 head operation, along with his wife Jodi, sons Shea (28) and Brock (19), and daughters Jacqueline (26) and Lauren (12). As a family, they raise and show Herefords, Simmental and Angus for breeding cattle and crossbreds predominantly for steers. His daughter Lauren has also started showing pigs.

Since 2006, Bob has been busy conducting clinics with Purina Honor Show Chow across the country. When not at clinics or hauling to shows, he enjoys attending his kids’ sporting events or can also be found judging major shows like the American Royal, National Western, and in February 2013, the San Angelo Stock Show.

“The best parts of the beef industry, for me, are showing with my kids, the countless families I’ve come in contact with over the years and the many friendships I’ve made. Weaver Leather has become one of those friends,” commented Bob May. “After my first visit to Weaver, I was extremely impressed and knew it was something special to be part of. Not only do they have a wonderful manufacturing facility, but their awesome product line is becoming more and more popular among consumers every day. The integrity with which Weaver Leather conducts business and the family atmosphere among their employees are evident in the day-to-day operations and important to me as a father and industry businessman.”

Weaver Leather Livestock has partnered with the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association BEST program to present Novice Sponsorships to get new youth involved in the Novice Division. Up to 50 participants will be awarded the sponsorship that covers the OCA membership fee ($60) and BEST nomination fee ($30 per head). Any 8 – 21 year old cattle enthusiast participating in their first or second year of the BEST program may submit and essay for the Novice Sponsorship.

“At Weaver Leather Livestock, we are all about giving kids the tools they need to be successful in the show ring. They are the leaders of tomorrow, so we want to be able to provide them an opportunity to get more involved in the livestock industry and encourage them to continue showing,” commented Lisa Shearer, Weaver Leather Livestock Division Manager.

BEST stands for Beef Exhibitor Show Total and is a youth development program for participants 8 – 21 years old. It is designed to recognize Ohio's junior beef exhibitors throughout Ohio as they accumulate points at a series of sanctioned steer and heifer shows. The Novice Division was implemented to provide a less competitive environment for newcomers to the program and has a separate set of points tracked along with their regular points for the season-end awards banquet. Awards for the Top 10 Novice Showmen, Heifer and Market Animal are given out. As part of the Novice Sponsorship, all participants will be entered to win a Stierwalt Professional Chute from Weaver Leather to be given away at the awards banquet.

To apply for a Novice Sponsorship, visit www.ohiocattle.org or www.thewinnersbrand.com to fill out and print the form. Applications must be postmarked by October 31 and sponsorship recipients will be notified by November 10, prior to the first BEST show.
